1. What are the main influences of For One Hate in the hardcore scene?
Peelingflesh, Bashed In, Embryectomy, Sunami, Reality Denied
2. How does For One Hate incorporate slam metal elements into their hardcore sound?
We’re always thinking about grooves and overall rhythmic sections focusing on being as ignorant as possible, mixing that sound with modern beatdown.
3. What are some of the themes and messages that For One Hate explores in their lyrics?
The importance of finding your friends and family as they are the only thing that can help you to go through what’s against you in life.
4. How did For One Hate meet and form as a band in 2023?
We met at shows over a small time, we ended up creating a group chat to go for some food before one of the shows and that’s where we figured out we all wanted a band so we tried it out and it ended up working really well .
5. What are some of the challenges and opportunities that For One Hate faces as a new hardcore band in Quebec City?
The scene here has been a bit dead since Covid which means not many people go to shows, however hardcore has been on the rise and we’ve been able to ride that new wave.
6. How does For One Hate interact with their fans and promote their music online?
We are on most social media platforms and use them to post our stuff when it comes out.
7. What are some of the goals and aspirations that For One Hate has for their debut EP and future projects?
For our EP it was really to just get a foot out of the door and release something to have our name out there, we did rush some things to get it before our first show. This does mean that our next release, planned for this summer, should be on a totally other level.
8. How does For One Hate balance their musical career with their personal lives and other commitments?
We all have regular jobs, so we do most of the band work on weekends, helps to keep an healthy balance.
9. What are some of the bands and artists that For One Hate would like to collaborate or tour with in the hardcore scene?
Peelingflesh, Reality Denied, Get the Shot!
10. How does For One Hate approach the production and recording of their music, and what are some of the tools and techniques that they use?
Most of the recording is done by our guitarist Xavier, he has studied music and mixing in the past and so his skills are really good and only getting better with time.
11. Do you have played in another band before For One Hate?
We have been in various projects over time, not limited but including : Spitpool, Lugertale, Mid divers.
12. What are some of the benefits and drawbacks of being an independent hardcore band in the current music industry?
Not having someone to give your orders and not having some to help you are the most important.
13. How does For One Hate cope with the pressure and expectations that come with being a new and emerging hardcore band?
We just try to have fun over having any expectations, so that’s not really an issue for us.
14. How does For One Hate differentiate themselves from other hardcore bands in terms of their style, sound, and image?
We’re hoping to mix older images and style with a more modern sound, still bringing that hardcore vision but with a sound that’s a lot more relevant today.
15. How does For One Hate contribute to the growth and development of the hardcore scene in Quebec and Canada?
We’re the latest new hardcore band from Quebec City since 2019, so we really are directly contributing to that growth locally. In Canada, we’re hoping to work with the rest to finally have Canadian hardcore stand as more than an extension of the US scene.
