1. When was Rise Above formed, and who are the founding members?
Rise Above was formed somewhere in 2012, by Arch - guitar, Pierre - drums (+ ) 2019 and Roy - vocals.
2. Which other bands have Rise Above members been associated with before forming the group?
Members played in Disabuse, Cry of Terror, Winterswijx Chaos Front and Colt Impact.
3. What genre(s) does Rise Above primarily identify with?
We put a lot of Hardcore and Punk in our songs and top it off with a Metal flavour!
4. Which album marked Rise Above's debut release, and what year was it released?
Our DIY debut “All that is solid… Melts into air” was released in 2016.
5. Who tragically passed away in October 2019 within the band?
In 2019 our namebringer and drummer Pierre passed away. As a longtime youthfriend we kept our name and released a 4 track CD “Forever” to honour him.

“For Better For Worse” is our most recent album, released in 2023 by WTF-Records

The song “White Eyes” came with a video and is a fast pounding Hardcore track. Lyrics are about negative forces who try to drag us down personally and wordwide.
8. Has Rise Above toured internationally, and if so, which countries have they performed in?
No till now we didn’t tour. We mainly played in Holland and Germany.
9. Are there any notable collaborations or guest appearances in Rise Above's discography?
Yes on our latest album we worked together with Sander from the band LIES! in his studio wich worked awesome for us. He even did a guitarsolo on one of the tracks and his bandmate René did some vocals on the track “Persevere”.
10. How has the band's sound evolved over the course of their career?
Well.. I guess with our new drummer we evolved a little bit. Our songs got more compact and a little bit shorter in generall. The sound may even be a little bit more HC and direct.
11. Which influential hardcore punk bands have inspired Rise Above's music?
This allways is hard to answer. We like bands like Terror, Paura etc but we all listen to a big variety of bands and styles, like hardcore, trash, punk, metal from the eighties and nineties even Johnny Cash fills our bus when we go to concerts. Our name Rise Above was taken from Black Flag’s song.
And don’t forget, we have a lot of good old and young bands in Holland like our labelmates From the Heart and Swim or Drown to name only two.
12. What impact has Rise Above had on the Dutch hardcore punk scene?
This is what the audience should answer. Haha!
13. Have they received any awards or critical acclaim for their work?
Well there are some interviews and reviews like your one now wich we appreciate very much. We also are content with the trust and dedication of Tim, who runs the WTF-Records and gives us the opportunity to release our albums.
14. What are some memorable live performances or festivals where Rise Above has played?
The show we organised in memoriam of our drummer was definetly one in the top 3. A lot of mixed but good emotions lots of singalongs and a full stage as we played “his” song. It’s also good to play in Fryslân, northern province of holland and last weekend we had a blast in café Bluff in Heerlen (city of Born from Pain), That audience is really crazy, bardives, slapping the lights, a dedicated venue owner and all with heart for the music. Great scene with good bands.
15. What future projects or goals does Rise Above have in mind?
We’re literally recording some new songs as we speak. This evening it’s vocal time. In wich form we going to release them is still a surprise.
