True Reason: Keeping Slovekian Voices.

On the occasion of their fifteenth anniversary next year as a band, we talk with Lukas from True Reason, who shares his thoughts on the state of the Slovakian hardcore scene, their musical journey and future projects, their social media preferences, and much more. An enriching discussion with a band that continues to make their mark after many years of existence.

  1. As you approach your fifteenth anniversary as a band in 2025, how is the Slovakian scene doing?

Yeah, fifteen years on the stage, time is passing like water. Slovakian Hardcore scene is very small, man can say, split on two fronts, west and east, in the middle is no Hardcore scene. We are coming from the west side of Slovakia and from town, where there was always a strong music scene and support of the people around this subculture.

  2. What was the original reason for forming True Reason 14 years ago?

Reason something to do is usually simple and with us, it was nothing else. We are all members from other bands, some are still playing yet and some no longer exist, and we just want to play our music.

  3. How does True Reason perceive the evolution of the hardcore music scene in Eastern Europe?

Evolution of the Hardcore scene doesn't work right in Slovakia. About 20 years ago, she was bigger and stronger. Several bands and more people. Over time, many and almost all of them have disappeared and no longer exist. The hardcore scene in Slovakia is currently weaker than ever. The metal and punk scene has remained strong, which is why we, True Reason, are something like the last Mohicans of Hardcore music in our country after 15 years. There are good, strong scenes in neighbouring countries, and that is also the reason why we play more abroad than at home.

  4. Which social media platforms do you prefer to interact with your fans and communicate your show dates?

We usually prefer platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Spotify and all the streaming. But don't forget emails and personal contact, with friends and people who know us and want to see our show.

  5. Regarding the guitarists, what types of guitars and amplifiers are used by the members of True Reason?

They have amplifiers Laney Iron heart and Diezel Herbert. Guitars from LTD and Washburn and signature model PK Guitars.

  6. "Z Moci Nám Danej" is the title of your most recent album from 2021, what's the signification of this title?

Literally, "From the power given to us". This album is a bit different than the previous two because this is a straightforward sound and the whole album is put together as a court hearing.

  7. "Pokerface" on this album seems to relate to feelings of frustration with injustices, how does it stand out from other songs that revolve around the same themes?

Thank you, yes, maybe so. It's going about Corona times and all the frustration around it. Since we all couldn't do anything, we weren't allowed to do anything, just wait for what comes. Bad times...

  8. "Stačí Málo," which is the most listened to song on your Spotify, deals with the inner strength needed to overcome life's challenges, right?

Right and basically, to do something great, you don't need much, just do it, hence the name:" even a little is enough ".

  9. Of all the songs you have released, which one reflects the band's personality the most?

This is hard to say just with one song and every member of the band has his own favourite, "PPRM" (first album), "TR-epresent" (third album), "Dôvody" (second album), "Jeden lepšíden" (first album), "Freepepo" (single 2023) and many more. And more is sure to come, because we are working on the new fourth album.

 10. You are playing at the TOHC Show Vol. 23 next October with Perfect Sky, whom we know well. Do you have any other stage plans for the fall?

Yes, Perfect Sky are great guys, and they will be playing with us for the first time in Slovakia. Until the end of the year you can still see us in Czech, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland and the last show for 2024 will be at home in our town - Topolcany. Check out our Facebook and Instagram and always stay tuned. Thanks for your support. Stay true, stay positive, stay Hardcore. See you in the pit...

It is always disheartening to see through certain stories, like that of Luka in the veteran band True Reason, that the scene in their country is not at its healthiest. But undoubtedly, with bands like this one, Slovakia can appreciate those who overcome the challenges that society brings each year. Those who persist like these must be proud to have survived, and we salute them. We greatly appreciated this discussion prompted by the band and extend our fraternal support for their continuity. Plans should remain simple and clear. Fist in the air in recognition and good luck for the future.
