Undoubtedly the best album of their career, "Hunting Demons" is significantly superior to their other works, both vocally and with its meticulous riffs that hark back to old school with a pronounced metallic touch. The guitars are aggressive. The drumming, now raised to a new level, cranks up the aggression, heavier and more prominent than in the rest of the instruments, which could be a point of contention on previous albums.
Although the lyrics explore various themes, reflecting their journey and worldview, their words are sometimes very raw, unrestrained, direct, and prompt. Two texts stand out, the first two singles "Racial Abuse" and "We’re Not The Same," which demand attention for their significant and undeniable messages.
The case in point is the first title released last January, "Racial Abuse," a powerful track that reflects a sharp outcry against racism and intolerance, a call for reflection and action against racial injustices in society. It exudes an intense and raw energy, typical of hardcore punk, with aggressive guitar riffs and a fast pace.
"We’re Not The Same" criticizes the excessive valorization of material goods and the tendency to prioritize image and status at the expense of authentic relationships and deep human values. It invites reflection on what is truly important in life, moving beyond the relentless pursuit of money and fame. It could be interpreted as a commentary on how social media influences social norms and encourages self-centered behavior, often at the cost of genuine connection and mutual support. Good contagious riffs on it too.
For the other titles, there is a marked improvement in the re-recording of "Angry Youth" from the 2020 album "Rise from the Dead." The track seems more aggressive than its previous version, with vocals that are a tad more complete. "Crucified" is simply a beautiful tribute that Perfect Sky pays with a cover of a foundational song by the band Iron Cross.
In conclusion, the album as a whole is a beautiful addition to their career. The newfound musical maturity acquired on "Hunting Demons" bodes well for the future of the band; they have found their style, and they do it well. This record, set to release on May 31st by WTF Records, will delight those looking for an album that's easy to listen to without any fuss.
